Petros Xenakis was born in 1957, in Chania, Crete, where he lives and works. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, under Alessandro Trotti, graduating in 1979. He taught art for High School grades from 1980 to 1992, at which time he devoted himself exclusively to his art.
